#95 - Calmsley Hill City Farm

I won't lie.  We left this one pretty late, and the main reason for that is that I kept hoping it would drop out of the top 100.  I probably shouldn't have told people that though, as that may well have encouraged people to go on and post positive reviews...

A fine specimen, but is it a chicken, or a rooster?
However, I have to confess to having been overly cynical.  Calmsley City Farm is actually a fun way to spend a couple of hours.  It would be more appealing to kids, but even for a couple of big kids, it was still pretty decent.  They had a number of shows on, like a sheep shearing show, and a sheepdog show.  They also had a decent range of animals on show.  A few of the cows looked like they could be doing with a decent meal, but I suppose at least they could feel safe that they were unlikely to be turned into burgers any time soon.

In addition to the cows, they also had various other animals, like camels and chickens.  Lots of chickens.  If you like chickens, I think you will enjoy their wide range of chickens.  They also had goats, pigs and various other animals.  There was a petting area for baby animals.  All very cute.  You could also go on a tractor ride around the estate.  We were a bit disappointed that we weren't actually in the tractor, but in a trailer thing dragged by the tractor.  Judging by the rest of the clientele on the journey, it wasn't really meant for adults with no kids though.

The pressure on the animals to look slim has resulted in some going too far
There are no shortage of animal related attractions in and around Sydney, so Calmsley City Farm has plenty of competition.  I probably wouldn't bother if you don't have kids, but it's a good day out if you have young kids.  Especially if they like chickens.

Do you have any chicken related facts you would like to share with other readers?  Please leave a comment if so.  Cow facts would be good too, but chicken facts are what the people really want...
